One of the churrerías that this year premieres in Santiago in the New Year is La Quinta, the business in rúa Calderería managed by Ibai Castiñeiras, whose name alludes to the fifth generation that he represents. His great-great-grandfather was already dedicated to sweetening life with his stall at the Pontecesures fair since 1842.
It was last April when the young man, 25 years old, successfully opened his first fixed premises in the busy street of the old town. Now Ibai declares himself “absolutely excited” to face his first New Year in Santiago. He advances that it will open from 05.00 and that it will continue uninterruptedly until 22.00 hours. The forecast is to be able to serve between 5,000 and 6,000 chocolate with churros.
